Sasha
Working With Artisans In Rural India
In Their Own Words

Country: India
Year Founded: 1978
Who do they help? Sasha works with nearly 100 groups of disadvantaged women and marginalized producers & artisans from rural and semi-urban pockets of North-East India, West Bengal, Orissa, Bihar and some other states. At present, Sasha is engaged with 5000 artisans, over 100 craft enterprises and 16 craft lines across the country.
How do they help? The ongoing process of design and development equips groups to successfully adapt their products to suit different market needs. They recognize the need to create a network of supportive work relationships among the different artisan groups. This facilitates change, and groups grow together while sharing skills, experiences and resources. Sasha assists groups with managerial and financial guidance, establishing systems and procedures where needed. Connections are made to address social development needs.
Special Thanks to: Sreeparna and Tamal for allowing me to use images of your lovely artisans.
