Who do they help? SAFFY was founded in 1966 by a Belgian missionary nun, Sister Juliaan Mullie who believed that one can “Fight Hunger Through Work”. The organisation created alternative sources of livelihood for the unemployed and out-of-school youths living in the marginalised areas of Manila through handicrafts-making. Her mission was to organise marginalised communities to become self-reliant through the creation of sustainable living opportunities according to Fair Trade principles.
How do they help? SAFFY Inc is able to showcase the ingenuity and artistry of Filipino craftspeople in international trade fairs, and has carved for them a regular market in Europe, North America and the Asia-Pacific under the guidance of Fair Trade Principles.
